Overview

The original River Road is the oldest byway in Ottawa County and one of the oldest in the state. Following the contours of today's Grand River Greenway, Historic River Road defines the progression of our regional civilization.
This is a story map that takes you on a virtual tour along the river road displaying information about points that are shown on the map. This is a handy tool to use if you are driving the route, you can access this app when you stop at each point of interest.

Overview

This fall, we will “virtually walk” 225 miles along the North Country Trail in the Upper Peninsula. We’ll begin the challenge on Monday, September 19.
This program is designed to help you stay active as the weather cools. Participants of all fitness levels are invited to join. Simply track and report your steps each week to be eligible for weekly raffle prizes, including Fit Bit fitness trackers.
Join us for one or all of our optional group walks (schedule below) as we explore the different parks in Ottawa County and enjoy the fall colors. Each walk will be led by a naturalist guide.

Overview

This application is designed for use on any device to locate and get data on property in Ottawa County for subscribed members. Once the user is at an area of interest, there is the ability to select parcels based on a distance from the edge of a parcel or from a hand drawn point/area/line. Those selected parcels can then be exported to excel to create a mailing list.

The Drain Viewer application was created to replace an outdated ArcReader application that the Water Resources Department used. This application houses a significant amount of data that allows the department to gather information at a moments notice.

The invasive species collecton application was created to help our parks department (who works with the West Michigan CISMA, MISIN, and the DNR) locate, treat, and monitor invasive plant species found in Ottawa County. The application then grew to encompass 8 counties: Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Muskegon, Newaygo, Mecosta, Montcalm, and Oceana counties.

THis application will begin its life by assisting the Parks Department maintain their sign inventory. It is a field collector that allows users to photograph the asset and create a point based on where the photo was taken. That point is then populated with pertinent information.

Each year the Treasurer's department has to physically photograph all properties that are delinquent in their taxes. This application removes duplicative processes by photographing and creating an assessment database from the field.

Overview

The Environmental Health Editor was created to remove duplicative efforts of the EH team, consolidate databases, and increase speed of user's workflows to inspect the installation of a properties septic/sewer system. The application allows users to place wells, septic tanks, drain fields, and associated information into the GIS database to display on the map. The app also displays other pertinent information from the DEQ, FEMA, as well as other environmental factors that we have in GIS.

Muskegon County's GIS program began in 1998 with a proposal to begin digitizing the property tax maps being maintained by the Equalization Department. From that humble start, the GIS program has developed into a full enterprise-wide solution for departments and municipalities throughout Muskegon County. Now consisting of over 300 individual layers, and more than 15 raster datasets (imagery layers), Muskegon County GIS has developed into an embedded part of the day to day business practices of County departments and local municapalities alike.
GIS has become an integral tool at Kent County in supporting the delivery of services from property mapping, health, public safety, to the judicial process. The investment in these technologies has also afforded Kent County the ability to provide GIS tools to business and the public for general consumption.
Land Information Services (LIS) is responsible for creation, maintenance, retrieval and analysis of geographic and spatial information and maintaining a variety of cartographic products of the County. LIS also makes various maps and geographic data and information available online and in hardcopy format.
IMAGIN (Improving Michigans Access to Geographic Information Networks) is a professional development organization committed to providing opportunities for its members to network with professionals who are using, creating, or maintaining spatial resources within Michigan. IMAGIN serves as a crossroads for spatial information users/developers at all levels of government, business, and non-profit organizations by providing its members partnership opportunities to recognize, share, and create spatial data resources for both traditional and new applications.
The purpose of MiCAMP is to encourage cost-effective and efficient local government through the coordinated practical development and utilization of geographic information systems and related technologies. MiCAMP provides a forum for sharing ideas and experiences amongst all communities in Michigan.
An acronym for "Regional Geographic Information System," REGIS provides a common database and suite of applications and interfaces to satisfy the spatial data management needs of all participant members. By participating in REGIS and working together as a team, member communities will be able to share valuable information, provide better and more consistent service to constituents, and reduce operating costs.
The Institute helps organizations understand the evolving needs of the community, document these needs for grant applications, and measure the success of their various programs. The CRI taps local experts in various areas such as hiring patterns, education, housing, and race relations. CRI also employs researchers with expertise in social research, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and community outreach. Associate researchers, faculty consultants, graduate assistants, student interns and clerical support also contribute to the effort.

The app offers real-time road and traffic information, including incidents, lane closures, work zones, message boards, camera views, and weather-related road conditions on I, M and US routes across the state.
The Mi-HUNT application is designed to be used for the planning of recreational hunting activities, not for the determination of legal property boundaries. The users should be aware of all rules and regulations relevant to hunting and related activities that are accessible through this application.
The free GeoWebFace provides a wide array of geologic information for natural resource management, educational and general interests. Additional programs are not needed but can be added to suit individual needs. It can be accessed by anyone, at anytime, anywhere the web is available.
Information includes: oil and gas well data and files, mining and related geographic information. Maps can be built on a road map, aerial photograph or topographic map base. The over sixty layers many specific to this application - of map information include: Glacial Geology, Structural Geology, Outcrops, Bedrock Geology, Gravity, Magnetics, Shaded Relief, Hillshade, Water Falls, Wetlands Inventory, Town, Range and Section, State Ownership, State Mineral Leases, Federal Lands, and National Forests.
